English news script with dictionary for mobile devices

Reading news in English language was a bit hard to me specially when i try to read from a websites like Reuters and New York Times.

Usually they use difficult and unknown words, also my problem was that i wanted to read from my mobile device because I don’t want to stay on the laptop all the time.

The problem was if I want to read the news I always need a laptop and a dictionary to know the meanings and pronunciation for unknown words, after that an idea came to my mind is to create a PHP script which is able to parse news websites and provide me with the meanings and pronunciations for all the words automatically, so I created a PHP script that can be provided with RSS for any news website and the script will list all the news articles and each article contains click-able words, when you click on any word you will get the meaning for it in both English and Arabic languages and also you will get the pronunciation for it.

Also, the audio is a available for some articles and sources.

The layout is intended for mobile devices only http://news.wafa-blog.com

  1. Hello Wafa,

Well, I’m not shocked..!! Yup.. I’m not..!!
I’ve used to see such brilliant ideas dropping of the top of your head..!!

I’d like to take the chance to let you know about the email you sent couple days earlier.. (Oh yes.. that one.. )

I can see good achievement and noticeable development in that regard.
There is nothing really worth mentioning, but minor things that are barley noticed I guess.

I bit, I’m the one who’s going to be emailing you for the same matter buddy ;-) .. Just keep it up and we will be talking further.

You are always one of my best..!!

  2. I’ve been browsing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be much more useful than ever before.
